Test
Procedure
Our product tests set new standards for objectivity and practical relevance. We design separate test procedures for each product category. These are based on the practical requirements for each product. Each test is standardised, repeatable and corresponds to the latest independent standards. To develop the test procedures and carry out the testing, we work closely with universities and accredited test centres.
In addition to the lab and field test results, Outdoor Content Hub produces a main text, test reports for individual products, product photos, (including detail shots) and video footage of the testing process. As such, we cover all content requirements for the print publications, websites or social media of our partners.
To develop the test procedures and carry out the testing, we work closely with universities and accredited test centres.
Test phases
-
Lab tests
Laboratory testing is used to investigate test criteria such as air permeability, waterproofing, abrasion resistance or insulation performance in accordance with current standards.
-
Outdoor tests
We use outdoor field tests to test a product in the environment in which it is to be used and to test lab results in real life conditions. For example, during fabric tests, we use temperature and moisture sensors between the tester’s skin and the fabric.
-
Wear trials
Products are tested by trained outdoor athletes during outdoor use. Relevant practical information and personal experiences are recorded using detailed questionnaires.
